Undergraduate Scholarships for Louisiana Residents - Minimum Criteria

Students who meet the criteria below will automatically be considered for a scholarship if an application for admission, test scores and transcripts are on file by the January 15th priority date. There is no special scholarship application to be filed and letters of recommendation and essays are not required.

Undergraduate students who obtain scholarships under these criteria must maintain full time status (12 hours) each academic year with a minimum UNO cumulative GPA of 2.75 to retain the scholarship.

Transfer Credits and Advanced Standing Credits are counted towards cumulative credit hours earned.


First-Time Freshmen

(Fewer than 12 semester hours of college course work completed and have no need for remedial course work in English or Math)

Chancellor Scholarship
27 or higher ACT (SAT I 1210 or higher) and 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA Full in-state tuition if not covered by TOPS, $500 book allowance, full meal award, $4420 credit toward Pontchartrain Hall
Decennial Scholarship
23 or higher ACT (SAT I 1060) and 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA Full in-state tuition and ½ meal award or, if tuition covered by TOPS, full meal award and $500 book allowance
Lafitte Scholarship
26 or higher ACT (SAT I 1170 or higher) and 2.7-2.99 cumulative GPA Full in-state tuition and ½ meal award or, if tuition covered by TOPS, full meal award and $500 book allowance
Regents Scholarship
26 or higher ACT (SAT I 1170 or higher) and 2.5-2.69 cumulative GPA ½ in-state tuition or, if tuition covered by TOPS, ½ meal award and $500 book allowance
Napoleon Scholarship
23-25 ACT (SAT I 1060-1160) and 2.7-2.99 cumulative GPA ½ in-state tuition or, if tuition covered by TOPS, ½ meal award and $500 book allowance
Claiborne Scholarship
23-25 ACT (SAT I 1060-1160) and 2.5-2.69 cumulative GPA $500 book allowance or $4420 toward Pontchartrain Hall
Privateer Scholarship
20-22 ACT (SAT I 940-1050) and 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA $500 book allowance or $4420 toward Pontchartrain Hall

Transfer Students

(18 or more semester hours of transferable college course work completed and no need for remedial course work in English or Math.
All GPA's will be recalculated by the Office of Admissions on an unweighted 4.0 scale)

Regents Scholarship
3.0-3.49 cumulative GPA ½ in-state tuition or, if tuition covered by TOPS, ½ meal award and $500 book allowance

Ranging from ½ in-state tuition to full tuition, room, meal award and book allowance based upon major, talent, eligibility for admission and recommendation of department
Elysian Ensemble and Urban Leadership Awards
Ranging from $600 award to ½ in-state tuition based upon service, leadership and nomination of department
Valedictorian of high school senior class
$2000 one-time only award
Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee.
Salutatorian of high school senior class
$1000 one-time only award
Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee.
Adventure Abroad Scholarship for high achieving entering freshmen
$2000 credit toward a UNO summer study abroad program the summer before the student's junior year in college
